This fall, Penn State Society for Indian Music and Arts is organizing a series of weekly sessions led by a scholarly musician Arijit Mahalanabis. They will discuss the origins of Indian Classical music, its history, its relation to other art forms, and draw parallels with arts around the globe. Each session will include a lecture-demonstration component and a practicum component. Special sessions will include guest artists and scholars, a session dedicated to seeing and experiencing various instruments used in the music, and attending our Fall concert series. No prior knowledge required.
