Vocal Music
Primarily a school of Vocal music, students in SIMA get to extensively study Hindustani Raga Sangeet. One of the unique features that SIMA's vocal school has to offer is the opportunity to study multiple genres of Hindustani vocal music including Dhrupad/Dhamar, Khayal, Thumri, etc. SIMA students are trained to be able to present music in a variety of styles and genres.
Tabla
Starting 2016, SIMA will also begin to offer tabla classes. SIMA students will have the opportunity to learn elementary tabla and technique. Students of tabla will also get the opportunity to take a part in workshops conducted by visiting tabla artists.
Harmonium
Starting 2016, SIMA will begin courses in elementary harmonium. The harmonium is the most popular accompanying instrument in North India today. Students will get to learn elementary technique and composition work in different styles.
Sitar
Starting 2016, SIMA is happy to offer a course in elementary sitar, one of India's most popular instruments. As artists visit SIMA, students will have the opportunity to study with them through workshops as well.
