“Growing up, I remember being surrounded by music. My dad would play songs on his old Japanese cassette player every night and my mum would be practicing for her Carnatic music lessons. My own musical learning has led me to Carnatic music, the tabla and piano, and four years ago, to Hindustani music. Each of these experiences, distinct yet similar, have and continue to help me deconstruct my own relationship to music, one from which I derive immense joy, perspective, and inspiration. This art has helped channel my emotions, and let me be part of a creative process that has taught me consistency, perseverance and the thrill of discovery from continuous learning.
Professionally, I am a mechanical engineer and currently work with a start-up(ish) firm focused on fluid mechanics in Seattle.”
